The Twentieth Century Society is planning guided tours of the ugliest buildings in Manchester. They don’t put it like that, of course. It’s a tour of historically significant post-war architecture (which just happens to be horrendously ugly and deserves tearing down.)

This week’s subject is modern. I wanted to juxtapose new and old, so here are a couple of stainless steel sculptures that recently went up outside the Corn Exchange (aka Triangle. Why are Manchester developers so scared of the city’s heritage? Ancoats is becoming New Islington, the Corn Exchange became the Triangle. The Printworks is the only exception I can think of offhand.)
