Photo Friday

This week’s subject is modern. I wanted to juxtapose new and old, so here are a couple of stainless steel sculptures that recently went up outside the Corn Exchange (aka Triangle. Why are Manchester developers so scared of the city’s heritage? Ancoats is becoming New Islington, the Corn Exchange became the Triangle. The Printworks is the only exception I can think of offhand.)

Set phasers to litigate

Many Trek fans are unhappy with Enterprise and the general state of the Star Trek franchise but Activision are going one better and suing Paramount over it. They say that Paramount’s neglect of Star Trek means they can’t sell games under the (rather expensive) exclusive licence they bought back in ’98 when DS9 and Voyager were still running.

Space house

I want one! Designs have been drawn up for self sufficient buildings which utilise materials and technology from space exploration. This link is for my sister, who’s looking into low impact/ eco housing at the moment.

The technology could be used in a German Antarctic base. Check out this hi-res image of a concept model, complete with Pingus.
