I’ve spent the last two days doing amajor disservice to my future biographers and throwing out litres of memorabilia. In amongst all the paper were 30+ rejection letters from my more prolific, and optimistic, days as a writer.

One set of stuff I didn’t throw away, however, were the articles I wrote back in the day for Grip, the UMIST student union newspaper. One in particular caught my eye- Living Culture was a nightmare vision of the future of reality television that seems quaint in the world of I’m a Big Brother Celebrity Love Jungle. It was written in May 1994. I wonder what happened to all the Living Soap people we hated so much that year?
