Anophtalmus hitleri, AKA the “eyeless Hitler” beetle, is under threat from neo-Nazis who collect them as mementoes of the dictator. Named by a Nazi entomologist in the 1930s, the species only exists in one habitat- a cave in Slovenia and examples are currently selling for as much as £680.
