You know you want one (and if you don't, can you send it to me instead?)

I’m not quite rich, or enthusiastic, enough to have queued for a Playstation 3 last night, but obviously I wouldn’t refuse one if offered.

On the other hand, I can wait. The flagship Playstation game is probably Gran Turismo, and Gran Turismo 5 isn’t coming out until next year. The other must-have game, Grand Theft Auto 4, is coming out sooner but is going to be available for the XBox 360 as well.

In fact, if you can’t stretch to a PS3, I will take an XBox 360, particularly if you can throw in Project Gotham 3 and a few other games.

Fire! Prints available

Some more prints are available from Deviantart. These are from the photos I took of Installation de Feu last September. If you’re in the UK, there are also prints available at my Photobox gallery.

NY:LON – Battle of the cities

Telegraph blogs are doing a series on New York vs London and all of their contributors have been invited to join in. I’ve yet to visit New York and I’ve probably spent less time in London than any of the Americans I’ve met. (Staines doesn’t count as London, it’s just a rather dire place tauntingly close to the capital.)

With luck I’ll get to visit both cities this year. I could try out my accent over the pond to see who’s impressed, but I’m sure it will be less of a novelty in New York than elsewhere in the US.

Music, Lyrics and Prose

Perverted by Language: Fiction Inspired by The Fall will be launched later this year. It’s a collection of short stories inspired by the music of Mark E. Smith’s band and the first of a series. I’ve often used song lyrics and titles to name stories and blog posts. So Much to Answer For is from a throwaway line in a Ned’s Atomic Dustbin song and there has also been Ten Years Asleep, from a Kingmaker song, and Out of Fashion and a Trifle Uncool, from a line in Echo Beach. And those are just the ones I can think of right now.

"I've just played two hours of Gran Turismo. Dare me to drive?"

Playing driving games encourages people to take risks when they get in their cars. This is particularly true of young male drivers, who are already a menace to themselves and others anyway.

We play a lot of driving games in casa Spinneyhead. It’s probably for the best that two of us don’t have cars.

Our current favourite, FYI, is Midnight Club 3: DUB edition

Wham! Bam! my cat Splash

Yam! Bam! mon chat Splash
Git sur mon lit a bouffe
sa langue en buvant tout mon whisky
quant a moi peu dormi, vide, brime
J’ai du dormir dans la gouttiere
Ou j’ai eu un flash
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
En quatre couleurs

Allez hop! un matin
Une louloute est venue chez-moi
Poupee de cellophane, cheveux chinois
un sparadrap, une gueule de bois
a bu ma biere dans un grand verre en caoutchouc
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
Comme un indien dans son igloo

Ca plane pour moi ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi moi moi moi moi
Ca plane pour moi
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
Ca plane pour moi

Allez hop! la nana quel panard!
Quelle vibration!
de s’envoyer sur le paillasson
Limee, ruinee, videe, comblee
You are the King of the divan!
Qu’elle me dit en passant
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
I am the King of the divan

Ca plane pour moi ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi moi moi moi moi
Ca plane pour moi
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
Ca plane pour moi

Allez hop! t’occupe t’inquiete
touche pas ma planete
It’s not today
Quel le ciel me tombera sur la tete
et que la colle me manquera
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
Ca plane pour moi

Allez hop! ma nana s’est tiree
S’est barree enfin c’est marre a tout casser
L’evier, le bar me laissant seul
Comme un grand connard
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
Le pied dans le plat

Ca plane pour moi ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi moi moi moi moi
Ca plane pour moi
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
Ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi moi moi moi moi
