DPercussion 05

Bez closed DPercussion with his new band Domino Bones. Very similar to the Happy Mondays in formula- shouty man and talented backing singer- it’s even got its own Bez, a dreadlocked guy who jumped around the stage during the set and demanded respeck for the Bezster.

As with all these events I hardly got to see a fraction of what was going on. I could have watched the trials mountain bikers and listened to the music on the stage next to them, or hung around the evolving graffiti wall, for the whole day.

More Urban X photos have been uploaded. I think this is an event that can be best appreciated by participating. As such, I think I need to put together a Rat Race team in case they do it again next year.

Later today people are going to try and climb piccadilly tower. So far today we’ve seen trials mountain biking and some nice people let us play with playstation portables.

Next I think I’m going to have a go on the climbing wall and see if i can conquer my dear of going more than halfway up.

Vegetarian shoes

If you don’t want any cows to suffer for your footwear then why not get your next pair from vegetarian shoes? I don’t have any problem with leather, and there do seem to be a lot of man-made materials used in their range. This isn’t a big problem if, like me, you recycle your old boots into plant pots after five years of service, but if they’re just thrown away the ethical balance is skewed.

On balance, I think I’d rather have some of the ethical, hemp or recycled footwear from Arkadash.

How to build your Transformer

Before each Transformer is released into the wild it is scrutinised and carefully tested by our quality control department (Alex, Damian and I, swearing when we can’t get our robots out of disguise). If, like us, you are occasionally stymied by your ‘bot, there are reviews, with very useful photos that can be used as guides, at Seibertron and the Transformer Archive.

This is going to be marked on a map, as are most of the robots and GIs released. There is also a set on Flickr of bot-crossing pictures for you to check out.

If you found BOT001 and visited the blog to find out more, please leave a message in the comments telling us what you plan to do with your newly adopted robot.
