The Erotic Adventures of Buffy and Evil Vampire Willow

Joss Whedon and others are doing a neat job bringing us season eight of Buffy as a comic from Dark Horse. There’s one collection out already- Long Way Home, collecting the first 5 issues and No Future For You, a Faith heavy tale, is due in June.

However, before this revamp Anne-Lise and Fox created their own reimagining. The Erotic Adventures of Buffy and Evil Vampire Willow makes smutty fun of storylines from the series as Buffy and alternate universe vampire Willow get it on, keep Angel and Faith chained up in the cupboard and turn Mr Pointy into a vibrator. Alyson Hannigan is an official crush of Spinneyhead, especially as Vampire Willow, so how could I resist this naughty version of her character. The most recent strip seems to be a few years old, but you can hope for new stuff.

Illuminations 1

Illuminations 1, originally uploaded by spinneyhead.

I can’t remember the thought process that led me to it, but I decided to put illuminated letters at the start of each scene in Global Weirding. This is the first of two pages of sketches that resulted. I’m currently cleaning them up/redoing them for the final version, which shall be available through my Lulu shop soon.

If you’re impatient, here’s a rich text version of the story.

Get down, deeper and down

Get down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Get down deeper and down

I want all the world to see
To see you’re laughing, and you’re laughing at me
I can take it all from you
Again again again again
Again again again and deeper and down

Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Get down deeper and down

I have all the ways you see
To keep you guessing, stop your messing with me
You’ll be back to find your way
Again again again again
Again-gain-gain-gain deeper and down

Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Get down

Get down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Get down deeper and down

I have found you out you see
I know what you’re doing, what you’re doing to me
I’ll keep on and say to you
Again again again again
Again-gain-gain-gain deeper and down

Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Get down

Status Quo – Down Down

I’ve hit a seam of Quo in iTunes. It could be worse- some bastard snuck Rick Astley onto the drive earlier.

Making foreplay complicated

Italian scientists (why am I not surprised that an Italian would investigate this?) say they have used ultrasound to find the G-spot, though their research also suggests that not every woman has one. I believe I’ve found the G-spot a few times, without the aid of ultrasound, and must say I prefer the traditional way of looking for it.

A live action Akira?

Warner Brothers is planning to make two live action films based upon manga/anime cult classic Akira. I hope that the mention of “New Manhattan” is a mistake in the report, but I don’t hold out much hope. Give the Japanese classic to a US film company and it’s no longer Tokyo that gets razed (twice) but the city that never sleeps gets yet another wake up call.

I’d be lying if I said I won’t go to see these films. That’s what Orange wednesdays are for. However, I don’t expect them to be good adaptations. And they’ll undoubtedly sanitise the collateral damage, depicted in manga and anime, that comes from flattening a major city, even though the aftermath of all that destruction is a key part of the second part of the series.

Now I’m going to have to lose a day re-reading the original manga. Such a chore.

Update Rumour is that the film will star and be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and the New Manhattan bit wasn’t a mistake. I’m feeling even less positive about it.

The Leading New York General Contractor Goes Green

I’m not sure what the UK equivalent of a general contractor is, some sort of one stop building renovations. My Home say they’re they’re the leading general contractor in New York and have announced in a press release that they intend to promote green options for their projects.

There are some deniers whose argumnents have moved on to moaning about the cost of going green. They just can’t see, or refuse to acknowledge, the flip side of their argument- that the economy is going to get a boost from all the companies being paid to work on green projects.

Trailer time

Place of honour in this week’s trailer round up must go to-

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Admiral Kolchak. Biopic of a Russian admiral in the early twentieth century.

The Bank Job. “Based on real events”, the tale of a still unsolved heist planned to cover up the theft of incriminating photos of a member of the Royal family (Princess Anne I think).

Love Songs. A very French musical about a menage a trois.

My Girlfriend is a Cyborg. !!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????????

The Happening. M. Night Shyamalan does the end of the world, complete with requisite “They’re abandoning New York” sequence. I’m beginning to feel sorry for Manhattan, why can’t the end of the world start in Dudley for a change?

The Forbidden Kingdom. Jet Li and Jackie Chan in a martial arts fantasy. I’m in.
