War is so early 2003 – Try GM as the next batlefield

The NY Times, my favourite paper and yet no royalty cheques yet, has this article about how the US is suing the EU against genetically modified crops. Be scared:

“The administration was backed by House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert, of Illinois, and other senior Republican and Democratic lawmakers who have been promoting the lawsuit for months. American farmers have led the complaints, saying they have invested in the expensive technology to raise genetically modified crops only to see one of the biggest markets Europe closed to their products.”

The Washington Times and the battle against the French

Well, Well. Those scare mongers in Washington are back at it this morning with the Washington Times proclaiming on the front page France issued EU passports to all the senior Iraqi officials and allowed to them to escape to Europe. Interesting read and shows how the French, although still smug little moes, are the target of unjustified American wrath.

Are you giving what you know?

Although I must admit to being a bit over the edge the past few days, I finally found something worth investing in. In last weeks Computer Weekly there is an article about a charity which provides IT help to other charities around the UK. Ian might have touched on this before, but there are still over 300 identified charities with IT needs ranging from design, development, strategy and programme management. The website address is www.it4communities.org.uk and it is well worth a visit to see if you have any transferable skills.

Less important:

Ok. Fazed.net has provided me with three great sites and I don’t even know where to begin. First and foremost, people have been doing interesting things with flash for the past few years, but the crew over at boohbah have created an interactive trippy environment that is pretty impressive not only for creativity but the amount of spacecakes eaten to come up with such an outrageously cool concept!.

The second thing fazed delivered was a highly impressive PacMan game. I know everyone has seen it before but this version mirrors the arcade version. I haven’t been able to waste so much time in a while!.

The last link I have found is to something which should prove extremely popular in some neighborhoods in the North such as Bradford, all of Sheffield, Oldham and all of Manchester. Probably most of Wales as well. Screw playing Monopoly – you really want to play GHETTOPOLY!!!!!

“Contents:

Game Board, Loan Shark Tray, 40 Crack Houses, 17 Projects, Pink Slip Cards, Ghetto Stash and Hustle Cards, 7 Game pieces (Pimp, Hoe, 40 oz, Machine Gun, Marijuana Leaf, Basket Ball and Crack), Counterfeit Money, and 2 Dice ( non metallic ).”

It’s the game pieces that do it for me…..

Even less important news:

Ok. I finally have a website, but as I yet I have absolutely no clue what to do with it. In the meantime whilst I try and figure out if there is anything in my life worthy of posting to a website, I believe it will become a spoof site of the day. Let me explain, on the website now it has a joke corporate statement, but I am thinking of making johnnytheo.com a virtual company which attempts to sell different products daily. Like today I think johnnytheo.com will attempt to sell Hello Kitty branded vibrator cosies. And tomorrow maybe Johnnytheo.com will sell universal business adapters (complete with European business adapter). I don’t know, if anyone has any ideas, let me know.

The other thing I have thought of doing is an international blog. Due to my dubious breeding I am lucky enough to have some American pals willing to participate and can rope in a couple of Scandinavians and Europeans. In the end, it could work to have an international competition for blogging rights and trying to get a good mix from across the world. Pipe dreams maybe, but still an idea.

Spinneyhead Related News

NEW YORK – Spinneyhead’s chances of remaining independent are beginning to look slim to none especially as the blogging sector braces itself for the long anticipated JohnnyTheo.Com.

There’s long been pressure for the world famous www.spinneyhead.com to marry up with a media power in order to compete with the likes of the new JohnnyTheo.Com and other super sites. But given the company’s incredible shrinking stock price, it is now beginning to worry about hostile takeovers too. Last year at this time, Spinneyhead (NASDAQ: SPH) was trading at $122.56. Today it closed at $22.60. The decline in share price reflects economic depression in the technology sector and previous labour disputes between Spinneyhead management and union leaders. Overall, Spinneyhead remains undervalued but analysts are hesitant to move from hold to buy until senior management comes up with a strong marketing and strategy plan capable of returning revenue into the share dividend.

On Thursday, Spinneyhead said it adopted a poison pill to prevent a hostile takeover and further degradation of itself share price. The plan will entitle shareholders to buy one unit of a share of Spinneyhead preferred stock for $250.00, should any single group or company accumulate 15% or more of Spinneyheads preferred stock. According to both the company and financial analysts, this was a pre-emptive measure created in response to the depressed stock price, and in no way a response to any takeover attempts.

“The Rights Plan was not adopted in response to any effort to acquire control of Spinneyhead, the company statement said. Efforts to contact the Spinneyhead CEO directly have not been successful.

News Update:

Reuters (AP) – Spinneyhead Fails to Rally The Internet Faithful:

The stock market took a small plunge today based mainly on fears Spinneyhead Inc. has lost its touch. Unison in a statement released today said, “We refuse to work for an organization devoted to fat cat payouts in a post war environment”. The loss in readership is not only affecting stock holder share price, but may reflect a deeper rift within the Spinneyhead organization. Institutional investors reacted angrily to suggestions the Spinneyhead franchise might be losing flavour, but several analysts changed recommendations from “buy” to “hold”. during heavy trading. What remains to be seen is a strong senior management commitment to content driven blogging on a regular basis.

One senior Wall Street analyst stated the only way Spinneyhead could regain its previous stock high was to invest in quality staffing. It remains to be seen if short term staff layoffs or management change will yield a positive pay out on the web. Charles Schwaab, the largest US brokerage, is on the record stating Spinneyhead is definitely a “hold” position, but they await a general share holders meeting to raise lack of hit concerns.Spinneyhead CEO, The Evil One, is expected to make a statement about content contributions over the next few days. Although this will not reduce market expectations of record making profits during Q2/03 for the Spinneyhead brand, institutional investors may be lured back. One never knows.

I must tell the whole world!!!

Ok. I can contain my secret for no longer. I have become addicted to Project Rockstar on the internet. Lets just put it this way, mucho effort went into this game and it is brilliant! The purpose:

Create and manage band(s) and enjoy the benefits of being a rock star manager! You have to watch the charts, buy goodies to impress the ladies and just go to the site now!

Make sure you check out my band of indie slackers that used to be cool until corporate turned them into an icon for the aging gen-x set and stupid kids! They are called MONEYSHOT!

How bout them apples?

The Op-Ed piece today in the New York Times states the following about how the case for war was hogwash:

“One wonders whether most of the public will ever learn that the original case for war has turned out to be false. In fact, my guess is that most Americans believe that we have found W.M.D.’s. Each potential find gets blaring coverage on TV; how many people catch the later announcement if it is ever announced that it was a false alarm? It’s a pattern of misinformation that recapitulates the way the war was sold in the first place. Each administration charge against Iraq received prominent coverage; the subsequent debunking did not. ”

Stupidity and wacky hijinxs

I must admit BIS were the business. Sure anti-pop, possibly a roll-on, but more than likely a spray. BK03 is in a matter of hours and the damn bastard webmaster of the Greatest Website Ever Told will be sleeping on a train getting ready for a day of amazing crap you and i don’t even have a chance to do. Life is good when professional BMX’ers and skaters mess about.

George Galloway – Under fire and due to appear on Crossfire!

I quote:

“LONDON, April 24 For anyone worried that the House of Commons has become too well-behaved to produce defiant oratory and eccentric behavior, George Galloway is a throwback to a provocative and histrionic past.”

Straight from the New York Times. The Article* is comical, but hey, he is a bastard war supporter anyway.

What ever happened to Spooks?

Remember the series last year, Spooks, on BBC1? A new series was supposed to arrive, but alas, no action yet. Maybe a couple of fan sites and the real deal will persuade the BBC to get off its duff.

BBC Official Home page: here — new episodes coming this summer! Maybe the climax of personal relations blowing up will be resolved.

A donkey on geocities: here not really worth the link, but google is going slowly downhill!

What does everyone else think of Spooks? Personally, I think it was a great show and worthy of a long running series.

The Newt changes colours

Newt Gingrich the loveable right wing former leader of the republicans is back in the saddle, this time peddling better diplomacy for Americans looking to take over the world. After living in the States for several years, I remember Newt’s halcyon days and all his spewing of shite rhetoric. Also, this is the same man who told his wife he was divorcing her whilst she lay dying from cancer in a Washington hospital. Hopefully, he will be pushed away sooner rather than later.

His Op-Ed piece in the Washington Times this morning says a lot and is worth a quick read.

GermanTown Wisconsin waste management theory:

This says it all:

The actual article is here. Straight from the County clerk.

ANIMAL EXCRETA

“Section 10.065 (7)(i) – It is unlawful for any owner, keeper or walker of any dog, Philippine pot-bellied pig or cat to have his dog, pot-bellied pig or cat discharge such animal=s excreta upon any public or private property within the Village other than the property of the owner of such dog, pot-bellied pig or cat if such owner, keeper or walker does not immediately thereafter remove and clean up such animal=s excreta from the public or private property.

No person shall walk a dog or pot-bellied pig beyond the limits of his own property without carrying or having in his possession a scoop, bag or other items designed to pick up and remove dog or pot-bellied pig feces; and, further it it unlawful for any person to dispose of the dog or pot-bellied pig feces on public or private property other than his own. “

Back in the USSA!!!!

Hola Amigos? Treasure the land of democracy? Just don’t put these countries on your CV (thats res-u-me for yankees). Just a quick quote from the article purporting that monster.com is removing references to certain countries in CVs posted and their drop down boxes. Makes you wonder doesn’t it?

“In an e-mail sent to affected account holders, Monster said it was making the changes to comply with the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, and some states, that “maintain sanctions which prohibit U.S. companies from conducting certain business activities with organizations located in or residents of” the seven countries. “

200 years of democracy. That was until the 21st century happened.

Fantastic

Somebody has put up a serious website about why not to go see The Matrix Reloaded. Just a quick quote:

The aborted American dream

Warner Bros. devoted $300 million to the production of the two Matrix sequels.

In the time the films have been in production, over one thousand American children will have died of starvation. For the cost of these films, each of those children could have been given one million dollars.

I’m dreaming of a white… cast?

Two actors were abruptly cut from the sequel cast before production ended, both female minorities. Coincidence?

Aaliyah and Gloria Foster were unceremonially dropped after shooting some scenes for the sequel. What’s wrong, guys? They didn’t test well with the predominantly white Matrix audiences?

Neither actress could be reached for comment

No really the internet exists for good.
