Skyline Central

I haven’t been up Rochdale Road for a while, so the new build apartment blocks there were something of a surprise for me. I had been looking for the Dojo Ecoshop, where I purchased a ladybird tower for the garden. I also stumbled across the “World Famous” Central skate park. Much more Tony Hawk and I may feel the urge to try it for real (and break lots of bones, I know).

Skyline Central has an interesting water feature and this rather funky sphere between the two main towers.

A Green roof for Piccadilly Gardens

Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens, imperfectly redeveloped a few years ago and with a lawn that needs constant relaying, is to get a green roof on the crescent of food outlets that line one side. This should help compensate for the excess of concrete and paving that was laid as part of the remodelling and maybe ease the big puddles that cover the tram tracks after a heavy rain. The popular fountains in the Gardens are now being fed from a ground source of water under the area, which should also cut their impact.

I cycled to work for the first time today. I should have done it yesterday, but you know what i’m like.

Meanwhile my finances have once again been screwed by the job centre, who took extra week to decide to pay me for the fortnight i was unemployed. During that week a whole load of direct debits bounced, resulting in bank charges that more or less add up to the amount they finally paid me. I’m not due to be paid for another three weeks and the bank won’t extend my overdraught until i present them with a copy of the contract that i haven’t even seen yet.

Apart from that, everything’s fine.
