The Stonehenge Bogles

They don’t make Rag stunts like they used to. In 1966 a bunch of Manchester Raggies scaled the fences at Stonehenge and left behind 16 Bogles- stick figure likenesses of the Rag mascot. You couldn’t do that nowaays, what with all the security paranoia.

Time to confes a couple of my own Rag indiscretions, all over a decade old.

I was the man who painted a banner with “UMIST Faculty of arty-farty subjects and Mickey Mouse degrees” which was hung on the front of Manchester University students’ union one Rag week. I took pictures, but I don’t know if I still have copies.

I was also one of the conspirators in the kidnapping of Ed- the ESCA drinking bunny. Whilst on a raid North of the border we rescued the unfortunate rabbit from captivity in the offices of the Edinburgh Students Charity Appeal (or Association, I can’t remember) and took him back to Manchester where he lived a pampered life. Apart from that time we tied him to the front of a van and drove him around supporting the Bogle Stroll, of course.

I don’t know where Ed is now. Can anyone tell me?

May the Fourth be with you

Slayer and the Rat, originally uploaded by spinneyhead.

I’ve just uploaded a bunch of pictures from Saturday’s memorial collection and Sunday’s get together. You can see them all in the May the Fourth be with you set.

Help Venn.tv buy a better camera and equipment

Fundable is a site that allows groups of people to pledge money to help others. Payment is only taken if the minimum pledge amount is reached. I’ve started a Fundable fundraiser to buy a high definition camcorder for Venn so that the image quality can do the acting and script more justice. We also need better sound equipment. Money left over from buying the camera will go toward this.

Venn.tv is the home of the Venn sitcom. We’re ready to start shooting the first episodes and I’d really like to do the actors and script justice by using better equipment. £1000 ($2000) will purchase a high definition hard disk camcorder such as the JVC Everio HD7, a docking station that will burn backups of footage, spotlights and diffusers. Any more money raised above this will go toward sound equipment including recording devices, microphones and booms.

Episode 0 was shot using a cheap camcorder with a cheap shotgun microphone and basic lighting. We’ve got some good actors and a good script, but the video quality isn’t doing them justice.

Added Benefits for Contributors:

All donors will be listed on the Venn.tv pages for the first four episodes of the series, with links to their websites if supplied. The list will be in descending order by size of donation. Anyone donating over $250 will be mentioned as a sponsor in the end titles of the first four episodes, which will be distributed for viewing beyond the Venn.tv site through embedding on other sites. Anyone donating over $1000 will have a pre title ad on the first four episodes- “Brought to you by-“

Capital Cash and London Loot photos

Monica, originally uploaded by spinneyhead.

The Rat and I returned from London yesterday after spending four days videoing and helping at the Cash/Loot mega raid. Ike flirted with lots of attractive women (and one or two men)and is now trying to remember/ find out their names.

There’s a Flickr gallery of pictures. As I send this it’s not completely filled because I’m having issues getting some of the pictures uploaded, but it should be full within a couple of days.

There are also two albums on Facebook- Part 1 and Part 2– so the Rat can find out who everyone was by having other people tag the pictures.

Stuck in delays on the Hammersmith and City line

Oh yeah.
Actually, I think it’s the district line that has the delays, but the map said H&C and by the time this is sent we’ll be above ground again where there is a signal.
Meanwhile remember pigsareworthit.com and I’ll try to stop waffling.

For some reason this picture didn’t make it to Spinneyhead when it was sent on Saturday morning.
