No Heroics
Coming to ITV2 this Thursday. Could be good, in a dark-version-of-My-Hero kind of a way. Follow Warren Ellis‘ recommendation and watch it on ITV2 when it’s transmitted (apart from the rest of casa Spinneyhead, could you try to download it for me because I’ll be in Paris by then, Eurostar willing).
Who watches
The Watchmen trailer. By all accounts it’s going to be absolutely faithful to the graphic novel, and watching the trailer I could guess where most of the shots fitted into the comic. And that will be rather spectacular and lovely, but also a bit disappointing. I know there isn’t as massive a history in superhero movies as Moore and Gibbons had to draw from in comics, but there could be room for a film that examined that in its medium the same way they did in theirs.
(A convoluted way of saying yes, of course I’m going to watch it, I just wish they could come up with something a bit more original.)
Quantum of Solace
Jalopnik has a trailer for the next James Bond Film.

Trailer Time
I’ve been a little lax with the trailers so-
Gallowwalker. Wesley Snipes as a cursed gunman, all of whose victims come back to life. I don’t like the pseudo comic thing that the trailer keeps doing, but the film looks interesting apart from that.
Kinta 1881. Malaysian martial arts.
Hancock. You never know, it might be good.
Babylon A.D. Complete with intro by the director.
The Wackness.
War, Inc.
Trailer Time
Journey to teh centre of the Earth. Probably going to be crap. But it’s going to be crap in 3d.
The Spirit. Frank Miller makes a film of the comic strip created by Will Eisner.
Hellboy 2.
Hotel California.
Trailer Time
Mongol. The early life of Genghis Khan.
Chrysalis. French sci-fi about dark deeds in a plastic surgery clinic.
Bangkok Dangerous. Nicolas Cage as an assassin finally getting remorse.
Beautiful Losers.
Trailer time- oriental oddness edition
There haven’t been any trailers worth highlighting for a few weeks, but just today I’ve seen nearly a dozen. Rather than one big trailer time post on Sunday I think I’ll spread them over a few days.
A selection of movies from the orient first.
A Tale of Legendary Libido.
Tokyo Gore Police. By the people behind Machine Girl, who seem to be keeping Japan’s fake blood industry afloat all by themselves.
Wushu, starring Sammo Hung.
Shaolin Girl, a spin off from Shaolin Soccer.
Onechanbara. Bikini girls versus the undead.
Trailer Time
J.C.V.D.
Speed Racer
Tropic Thunder- “Shit blows up.”
The Oxford Murders
The Incredible Hulk
Trailer Time
Wanted. Lots of shooting. Always good.
The Dark Knight.
The Red Baron.
An Empress and the Warriors

Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?
Sky Crawlers.
Taken.
Iron Man
Trailer Time
Fatal Move. Violent gangster flick with Sammo Hung.
Flame & Citron. Danish second world war intrigue as Denmark’s top resistance killers face difficult choices.
The Fall.
Street Kings.
Boarding Gate.
I’m having problems playing video at the moment, hopefully all these embeds work for you.
Trailer time
Place of honour in this week’s trailer round up must go to-
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Admiral Kolchak. Biopic of a Russian admiral in the early twentieth century.
The Bank Job. “Based on real events”, the tale of a still unsolved heist planned to cover up the theft of incriminating photos of a member of the Royal family (Princess Anne I think).
Love Songs. A very French musical about a menage a trois.
My Girlfriend is a Cyborg. !!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????????
The Happening. M. Night Shyamalan does the end of the world, complete with requisite “They’re abandoning New York” sequence. I’m beginning to feel sorry for Manhattan, why can’t the end of the world start in Dudley for a change?
The Forbidden Kingdom. Jet Li and Jackie Chan in a martial arts fantasy. I’m in.
Trailer time
Diary of the Dead. Another zombie film from George Romero, and another faux video diary of something going horribly wrong flick.
Three minutes. Alex and Ana find themselves alone in a world where everyone else is frozen in time.
Flawless. 1960’s set heist movie with Michael Caine and Demi Moore.
Smart People. Not so sure about the presence of Sarah Jessica Parker
Trailer time
A few interesting looking upcoming films-
Journey to Saturn. A Danish cgi film. If it’s as silly and funny as the trailer it’ll be great.
Doomsday. 28 Days Later meets Mad Max in Scotland.
Charleston & Vendetta. Lush and strange Serbian fantasy.
Resiklo. Filipino giant robot/alien invasion action movie.
Flick. Welsh Rock ‘n Roll undead revenge movie.
Son of Rambow.
The Machine Girl
It’s got ninjas! Revenge! Dismemberment! Lots and lots of blood! What more could we want?
The Machine Girl. The trailer’s bloodier than the average action film.
It looks like the sort of film that would join our Monday night crap film list, alongside the likes of The Ultimate Ninja, TNT Jackson and tonight’s event- Yellow Hair and the Fortress of Gold
Coming sooner or later
Watchmen the movie. From the director of 300, so it should look good even if they balls up the story completely. (Buy the Watchmen graphic novel from Amazon)
CJ7 from the director of Kung Fu Hustle. (CJ7.com isn’t the movie’s site, but a Jeep owners’ club page.)
AvP-R
Aliens v Predator – Requiem, coming in December. Let’s hope they keep in all the gore offered by the trailer.
Coming Soon
