Spiderman
No, not an attempt to have a shameless link to amazon, but to a lego animated story.
Money for something
In the ongoing campaign to make Spinneyhead pay its way the Amazon affiliation is still top of the heap. Tim thinks everyone should buy the Adam and Joe Show dvd, and so do I.
I’ve also applied for AdSense ads. The first rule of AdSense is you don’t talk about AdSense, so this is all I’m telling you.
Support your friendly local Spinneyhead
When I checked this morning, Deputised Experts was at 111th on the TopWebComics list with 47 votes in and a dozen click throughs. I need to reach the mid 50s to hit the top 100 and start getting positive feedback. Please do your bit and click through to vote for me. You could also go over to the Onlinecomics listing and up the hit count from there.
And you can show your support in other ways. Pop over to the shop where there’s a bundle of cool shit. Or click through to Amazon and get that book/CD/DVD/cuddly toy you wanted.
Or you could just give me 1 a month by subscription-
You know it makes sense.
Consider it a shopping list
The nine most violent video games on the market.
GRAND THEFT AUTO: VICE CITY- PC, PS2
THE GETAWAY- PS2
HITMAN 2: SILENT ASSASSIN- PS2– XBox– PC
SOLDIER OF FORTUNE II: DOUBLE HELIX- PC, XBox
MAX PAYNE 2: FALL OF MAX PAYNE- PC, PS2, XBox
ROADKILL- PS2
HOOLIGANS: STORM OVER EUROPE- PC
POSTAL 2: APOCALYPSE WEEKEND- PC
I wouldn’t argue that these games shouldn’t be sold- Vice City is brilliant and the original Max Payne was good, if a little linear- but I detect a screwed up double standard when Amazon UK will sell these but refuses to stock House of Bush, House of Saud.
….And Statistics
Spinneyhead’s Amazon stats for 24th June to 24th July. Yes, I am bored.

I'm the man who sold you the Yo-Yo
It’s time to challenge myself again, and pump up the Amazon referals whilst I’m at it. In the spirit of previous song-lyrics-as-post-titles weeks, it’s cultural-references-in-posts week, with links to the book/ album/ whatever at the end of the post. I’ve been doing it in about a quarter of my posts recently anyway, I just have to pump up the linking.
Damn Statistics
I should be doing coursework, but got distracted by Amazon statistics.
The most clicked through item is Another Education and Ruby Red, my own print-on-demand tome, which has generated one order. You can get it direct as an Acrobat file for pennies if you want to assess the literary merit before doling out too much cash.
Second is Bring It On by Gomez, an excellent album.
Third- Northern Soul Memories Vol. 1, which I haven’t listened to in ages. Must dig it out.
Fourth- Hello Rockview/ Losing Streak by Less Than Jake.
Fifth- Dead Ringer by Meatloaf
Best selling of all my referals is Dude, Where’s My Country?
In the period I’m looking at 41 items have been ordered and only 37 dispatched. Obviously I now have to print out both lists and find out where the discrepancy lies.
It's Sinful, it's Magic
Grand Theft Auto: Sin City. Amazon reckons it’ll be out on the 5th of November, but is taking pre-orders already.
Exquisite taste
Amazon only lists four Troma movies on DVD, but one of them is Toxic Avenger, probably their best known. Personally, I’ve only ever seen one of the companies movies- Basket Case, I think- though I’d like to see more. The Guardian profiles Troma founder Lloyd Kaufman and his Cannes antics today.
Back to (insert obvious pun here)
Every so often I find Dark Basic on Amazon and think I should buy it and have a go at building a game. This article in today’s Guardian has got me thinking it again.
Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
Just for silliness, and inspired by yesterday’s TMBG episodes, I’m declaring this a song titles and lyrics in post headers weekend (all the way through to Monday). Lyrics will be acknowledged and, where possible, a link to a relevant amazon page provided.

Association
I’ve been modifying my linakge to Amazon. Check out the new buttons in the side bar. At the very bottom of the sidebar are the bestselling graphic novels.
African Queen
Toto (you don’t remember them? Here are a few of their albums on Amazon) have had to post a rebuttal of a statement on their website which said that one of their members wouldn’t be on the summer tour because he was having a sex change. It seems the music press has a hard time recognising a joke, even a blatantly obvious one. (Insert “Which would explain [band of choice].” here)

Bargain
Amazon UK had problems earlier today after hundreds of customers tried to buy wrongly priced (7.32) HP iPAQs. I always miss the sales (and if I’d gone there through spinneyhead I could have got some money back through being an affiliate).

Update: Amazon is not obliged to send out the iPAQs at the wrong price
