Suyata Sengoku Sanshiro “Ninja Girl” Figures Unboxed and Built
Another Suyata product. These figures- two in the box- snap together, so I decided to build them as well as unbox them.
I got mine from Hobbylink Japan (affiliate link).

I have a growing stack of vintage car magazines that I’m trawling through for inspiration, and I thought I’d share them with you. This is Custom Car magazine from February 1978, full of old-school customs I mostly can’t find kits of.
What’s better than one Nissan Skyline? Four Nissan Skylines, of course.
I thought I’d compare two new models of the R32 Skyline- one by Mono, and one by Aoshima- with two older models from Microace. You may be surprised by the results.
I got all four kits from Hobbylink Japan. As the new kits are available in different finishes, I’ve created a link to every 1:32 Skyline model by the three companies, which includes older and newer generations, as well as the R32s (affiliate link).
I do like the occasional left-field subject, and this is one of those. The 1:25 Goldfish Shop is clearly not intended for markets outside Japan, but I had to get one for myself. Have a look at what’s inside the box with me.
Mine came from Hobbylink Japan, and it’s one of a series of Japanese mini dioramas by MicroAce (affiliate link)
Unboxing the second vehicle in Suyata’s Madness of the Streets series.

I braved the snow (there wasn’t that much, really) to get to the Manchester Model Railway Show and shoot the layouts. Here, for your pleasure, is 16 minutes of model trains.
Old meets new in this project. A vintage Model T show rod kit gets a modern drivetrain through 3D printing.
3D models used in this build:
Tesla crate motor – Quick change rear – Speedster Rod wheels & tyres
A new model magazine has hit the shelves, dedicated to one of the subjects I’m interested in. I don’t remember there ever being a British model car magazine, so I hope it does well. Let’s have a look inside the first issue.
The magazine, and others, is available from Guideline Publications.
I used to do so much writing in the John Rylands that I called it my ‘office’. Then I became a key worker during lock down, and I haven’t visited for ages. So I went back and had a wander around the halls again when I had some time off recently.
Happy Halloween!
This vintage model/toy came from a Japanese auction site, and I’ve been saving it up just for this time of year. It’s a very simple vintage kit, so I added a base and mini diorama.
Here’s the Golden Bat history video I mention.
There are a lot of great vehicle and technology designs in Akira. Everybody (me included) loves Kaneda’s bike, but it’s hard to find models of many of the rides. So I had to make the flying gun platform when Fichtenfoo put a file on their Patreon page.
The markings aren’t accurate to the manga or the anime, but it’s another build I’m glad to add to the display case.
The Fichtenfoo Patreon is on a hiatus, but you can buy their 3D printable designs at Industria Mechanika.
I decided to paint and detail the Bench and Bin set from Hasegawa. Maybe it’s not as neat and tidy as you’d find it in a Japanese park, but I like what I got.
You can get the set from HobbyLink Japan if your local hobby shop doesn’t have it.
The food cartons were printables downloaded from here.
The Disposable Coffee Cups are available from Spinneyworld in a number of scales.
I decided to spotlight a few favourites from the Fitted UK show. These are the vehicles I shot the most footage of, and hopefully give you an idea of my taste in modified vehicles, and potential inspiration for future builds.
Unboxing two Airfix kits from the early eighties. But they’re not Airfix kits. Sort of…..
All will be explained in the video.

Hobbylink Japan’s private warehouse (affiliate link) makes it even easier to build up a delivery and ship it at the best value rate, especially now they’ve extended the time and space available to you in it.
The Kickstarter for Car Wars 6th Edition ended two and a half years ago, but then…. stuff happened.
So the game only shipped in the last few months, and I finally got my copy this week. This is a first look in the box, to see what I got. Playthroughs and painting videos may come later.
There’s a section of the Spinneyworld store with 1:64 scale accessories perfect for Car Wars and Gaslands if you’re interested.
Experimenting with the YouTube Shorts format. Obviously, this works best on a phone screen in portrait mode.
I haven’t been to the Crewe model show- previously South Cheshire Militaire- for years, even before Covid. But I made it this year, and I think I got every model on video.

Some models I found whilst searching through the stash. These three hotrod/vintage Fords were a mystery to me at first. I definitely can’t remember where I got them from (it was probably Ebay ;-P), but I’ve got a better idea what they are now. Look out for one or more of them becoming builds in the next few months.
