The short lived American TV programme K Street was supposed to be a part documentary, part drama look at politics in Washington. As well as the actors, actual politicians and pundits would appear playing themselves. The series was supposed to stimulate interest in politics which would, theoretically, lead to more voter involvement and the raising of issues to be addressed in future episodes.
The Royle Family, a TV series mostly about a family sitting around and watching the telly, has to count as recursive, surely?
