It’s been suggested that some of the original Boglers, who started all this over forty years ago, should be tracked down and asked to do it again. It has its merits.
Checkpoint eight has snow. Which is nice.
I’ve had a bad reaction to the blanket i was sleeping under and now i have very bloodshot eyes. Going for a drive to checkpoint eight to get some fresh air and clear my eyes.
I’m trying to sleep.
Original didn’t arrive. Posted Sunday 6th.
Checkpoint five has a barbecue, so that’s where i’ve been since six. I’m enjoying a good home made mocha and waiting for my girlfriend to come through. Then i’ll get some sleep before going driving again.
Probably the least appropriate song to play to a bunch of people who’ve just dropped out, but, hey.
Johnny wasn’t at checkpoint four either. We will find him, oh yes. Vengeance will be mine.
Original didn’t arrive. Posted Sunday 6th.
Johnny ain’t here. Right now Spinneyhead is probably down.
We only managed to get lost a couple of times on the way here, but one of those times did take us most of the way to Macclesfield!
Original didn’t arrive. Posted Sunday 6th.
The American Sign Museum. A very Discontinuous Infill organisation.
(This one not moblogged. About every other moblog seems to be getting through. I’ll fill in the gaps later.)

It’s getting heated in the control room over who’s the most likable character in the OC.
Nearly midnight and I’m waiting to be given the pimp mobile and a destination.
Meanwhile the first walkers have cleared checkpoint one.
When’s the witching hour?
I’ve been given an official badge. I feel so special.
For me, Bogle starts now. I’ve got to go and help collect some of the fleet of vans and mini buses that will ferry equipmet and people around.
I get to grab some sleep, which is more than the walkers can hope for, but you wouldn’t want me to nod off whilst driving a transit would you?
I’d still love to get listed on Slashdot. The effect on a small site can be very impressive. However, for the larger tech sites, a /. listing isn’t what it used to be.

Sponge sounds interesting, and, importantly, is UK based. I don’t have a lot of time to digest the site right now, so here’s the group’s own description of itself-
Sponge is a network of open-minded individuals who share a particular interest in sustainable development. These individuals generally work in, or are associated with the development of our built environment; from bricks and mortar through design, engineering and planning to communities and regeneration.
Sponge provides a focus for fresh ideas in building; demonstrating how sustainable development can improve the quality of our built and natural environment.
Sponge works with existing groups who also have an interest in sustainability and individuals who wish to be kept informed. The group is aimed at young professionals and participation is open and encouraged to all.
Sponge was launched in 1999 and continues to grow at a healthy and sustainable rate….!

Based upon the book of the same name, this is an entirely different type of documentary to Outfoxed. In 1985 two young climbers set out to scale the unconquered face of Peruvian mountain Suila Grande. When one of them broke a leg on the descent it looked as if they both might die on the mountain. What followed was one of those tales that could only happen in real life- as fiction it would just seem too unbelievable. The interviews with the climbers and their companion who stayed in base camp are low key, contrasting nicely with the dramatised reconstructions. Gripping stuff, whether you’re a climber or not.
(Sitting on my book shelf waiting to be read is author Joe Simpson’s follow up to Touching the Void- This Game of Ghosts. Another highly recommended climbing book is The White Spider, tracing the history of attempts on the North face of the Eiger.)

I’ve been warned that Spinneyhead may be briefly disconnected some time over the weekend. Don’t panic, it will return.
Probably.

As broadband becomes a more common way to get streamed video the Government is proposing the TV licence could be extended to cover computers so the Beeb doesn’t lose too much money.

A study by npower shows the amount of money the average Mancunian wastes. For the city as a whole it totals nearly £21m in energy bills and more in credit and shopping. I should get all these numbers and use them to back up my arguments in teh How to Save the World for Free proposal.
