Manchester is to host Britain’s first "super casino", beating Blackpool and Greenwich.  The facility will be in Beswick, close to the City of Manchester Stadium and the huge Asda.  Whilst a big building full of slot machines sounds a dreary prospect to me, I am intrigued by the promise of "an entertainment complex with a range of facilities such as a multi-purpose arena, a swimming pool, an urban sports venue, restaurants, bars, a nightclub and a hotel".
