I’ve posted some content over at thisisby.us, a new social blogging platform that promises to pay out 50% of its ad revenue to writers and 10% to commenters. If you register, please go looking for me (Spinneyhead, of course) and give me some goodness. I’m not sure how the rating system works exactly, but I get points for views and votes so eyeballs are always welcome and clicks moreso.
Hmm…
“By posting, uploading, or otherwise transmitted user content to the Site, you hereby grant us a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, perpetual, and fully sublicensable and transferable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, distribute, publish, create derivative works from and publicly display and perform such User Content in any media, now known or hereafter devised.”
So basically: all your words are belong to us!
I normally pay more attention to T&Cs, particularly where content creation is concerned. Guess I just got carried away this time. It looks about as dumb/evil as these things sometimes are, but I’m not going to worry too much about it.
I’m reposting material and using it for promotion. As they’re only claiming non-exclusive rights I figure I’ll be okay posting/selling the material elsewhere as well.
