How long until we stop being fascinated by the Second World War? I’m still mulling over alternate history story ideas for a propeller-punk or jet-punk story. Other people keep diving in Lake Toplitz in Austria to try and find out what a bunch of Nazi would be guerillas dumped there in 1945. After some inconclusive finds and a couple of deaths, an American treasure hunter has been given permission to do a high tech trawl of the lake bottom.
In 1983 a German biologist accidentally discovered more forged British pounds, numerous Nazi-era rockets and missiles that had crashed into the lake, and a previously unknown worm.
Technorati tag: Austria, World War Two
very interesting stuff. Its most likely that Hitler or his men would have known that the water in the lake does not contain oxegen(below 20m)so the items dumped would stay intact.
