The tooth will out

“Toothing” was an invented trend from two years ago, made up by a journalist who wanted to prove he could create a new sexual buzzword. But life imitates art and some people liked the idea so much they started doing it for real.

Young men in Dubai have been using the technology to contact women in public places, according to the BBC’s website.

“In our country it’s very rude to go up and talk to them,” the BBC quoted Ahmed Bin Desmal as saying. “I sent some notes, they liked them — they took my number and they called me.”

Sunlight

I’m still working in the CIS tower, which now has a big display in the foyer telling us how much power the solar panels have generated and what that means in saved CO2. However, every floor has row upon row of flourescent tubes lighting it. Direct sunlight, on the rare days we get any, is blocked by blinds because it tends to shine in the eyes of those facing the windows.

Perhaps the Co-op can take another step in energy saving and have a few solar collectors on the roof, such as those by Solartech, which use parabolic mirrors to direct light into light tubes that can illuminate thousands of square feet of office space. The company needs further funding to bring their products to market. They estimate twenty times greater efficiency than converting light to power and then back again and say a system could pay for itself within two years.

Click for the Climate

It’s National Science Week, and we’re being asked to pledge to take action to cut down CO2 emmissions. Despite already doing most of the things on the list, my pledge will still save 1045.32kgs of CO2 (providing I take an international flight and remember to plant a tree to offset it).

Tiger

And this is the promo piece.

Tiger was inspired by the kidnapping element of the huge heist in Kent last month. It’s a Deputised Experts tale, picking up a while after the first series. When a kidnapping in Manchester threatens an MI6 operation abroad, Tom has to rope in the Guns Task Force to rescue the abductees. They only have two hours to do it.

Line art will be hand drawn- I’m trying for a clear line look- with colour a mix of hand and computer.

There’s actually another series, Adrift, that will appear before Tiger. Promo for that coming soon. Meanwhile, click on the image to go to the Tiger homepage and bookmark it.

should have got a quick release

I bought mudguards last week but haven’t fitted them. That wasn’t a problem this morning as it’s quite dry.
However, my arse was soaked by the time i got to work. Being sponge-like, my nice soft saddle has been rocking up water all the time it’s been sat outside in the rain. The pressure of my bum cheeks forced some of that moisture out as i commuted.
It’s a good job i packed a spare pair of boxers this morning.

Cohousing

Cohousing is a different way of creating high density housing, a lot of house modules arranged around a communal section. The Independent reports on a project in Stroud.

Springhill Cohousing is at www. springhillcohousing.com; the UK Cohousing Network is at www. cohousing.org.uk; ‘Designing Your Natural Home‘ by David Pearson is published by Gaia Books.
