These things are under so many of Manchester’s streets. I always say that the tarmac should be ripped up and these surfaces exposed on some residential streets.
Oh no, you can’t do that… the surface is smooth, they are slightly uneven and unless you are in a heritage conservation area and extremely clever with your design, all the “health & safety” and “reducing disabled access” lights flash and you simply are not allowed to use them. Think of their effect when a car slams on its brakes when travelling over them… skiiiiiid BANG! We like the look of them but you really are opening a can of worms with the planners if you try to install them.
