P-38 on the beach

This entry was posted in Archaeology World War 2 on November 15, 2007 by Ian Pattinson

A P-38 Lightning buried in sand on a Welsh beach after a training accident has been revealed after the tides shifted and washed away its covering. The plane did a belly landing on the beach after developing fuel problems, its guns were removed and it was left there, only being spotted again this summer.
