The Fall

Booze, Blood and Noise: The Violent Roots of Manchester Punk

“It was a peculiarity of late license laws in Manchester at the time that food had to be available until the premises closed,” says Taylor. “When the police raided, one of the first things they would check was that there was food available, because if you didn’t have it they would shut down the club and kick everyone into the street immediately.”

Music, Lyrics and Prose

Perverted by Language: Fiction Inspired by The Fall will be launched later this year. It’s a collection of short stories inspired by the music of Mark E. Smith’s band and the first of a series. I’ve often used song lyrics and titles to name stories and blog posts. So Much to Answer For is from a throwaway line in a Ned’s Atomic Dustbin song and there has also been Ten Years Asleep, from a Kingmaker song, and Out of Fashion and a Trifle Uncool, from a line in Echo Beach. And those are just the ones I can think of right now.
