Watching the Stock car racing at Belle Vue
In the rain.
In the rain.
Following the YouTube trail from the video on this BoingBoing post about mini pistols I’ve found footage of other small weapons.
.22 gatling gun.
Mini Colt 1911 (though this one doesn’t appear to fire).
This one does.
Build your own rocket gun.
I don’t know why the squid is attacking Blackpool. Or why the monsignor has a flower in his hat. And I definitely don’t know what happens next.
Just to make drivers think twice before cutting me up.
Honest.
I decided to forgo my usual spot for photographing the Pride parade this year. I also gave up my camera, letting Dan take a lot of photos whilst I videoed stuff. He didn’t do too badly.
Many more photos in the Pride 2009 set on Flickr.
The Burnage Beatles wannabes have split. I have loaded all of the Oasis back catalogue into Winamp in their honour.
Who wants to start a pool on when zombie Oasis will shamble forward for a special reunion. Alan McGee reckons five years. I’ll aim a little lower and say four.
Take the time to make some sense
Of what you want to say
And cast your words away upon the waves
Bring them back with Acquiesce
On a ship of hope today
And as they fall upon the shore
Tell them not to fear no more
Say it loud and sing it proud
And they…
Will dance if they want to dance
Please brother take a chance
You know they’re gonna go
Which way they wanna go
All we know is that we don’t know
What is gonna be
Please brother let it be
Life on the other hand won’t let you understand
Why we’re all part of the masterplan
I’m not saying right is wrong
It’s up to us to make
The best of all things that come our way
And all the things that came have past
The answer’s in the looking glass
There’s four and twenty million doors
Down life’s endless corridor
Say it loud and sing it proud
And they…
Will dance if they want to dance
Please brother take a chance
You know they’re gonna go
Which way they wanna go
All we know is that we don’t know
What is gonna be
Please brother let it be
Life on the other hand won’t let you understand
Why we’re all part of the masterplan
I have recently started uploading 3d models to a site called Shapeways, where you can order them and get solid copies. The 3d printing process allows for some fine detailing, so I’ll be taking advantage of that. Currently available in my Shapeways shop are a few items of street furniture, and a casket for hearses or graveside scenes. I shall be adding more on a weekly basis (though that may become fortnightly as the models become more complex) with enough variety that it will be easy to uniquely decorate your town.

Wired explains how to become a competent knife thrower. Then all you have to do is practice to get your aim in.
Charles Stross on the Abdelbaset Al Megrahi release and the incomprehensible attitude of some Americans to healthcare reform. No doubt I’ll weigh in on the healthcare thing again, but on Megrahi can I just say that the people who’ve displayed weakness in this whole affair haven’t been the Scottish authorities but those who have wailed that the scots are somehow weak for following their own laws and not bowing to outside pressure. The circus that greeted Megrahi on return to Libya wasn’t Kenny MacAskill’s doing and should serve as a warning to all those, here and abroad, who want to trade with Gaddafy- many in his counry hate us and we shouldn’t get complacent about that.
Having said all that, I can’t help but think that there’s a dark thriller waiting in compassionate release. Supposedly reformed gangster with only a few weeks to live is released, only to set out to avenge the death of his wife and child/ get the people who set him up/ clear the ground for his heir/ all of the above. Give it all a granite grey tone, violence in front of Edinburgh’s or Glasgow’s grander buildings and have a Highland finale with the heather turning the colour of blood as the sun sets on the fallen bodies.
The US senator, and brother of John and Bobby, has died of cancer aged 77. Are there any Kennedys left in US politics? Schwarzenneger’s related to the clan by marriage, but I mean blood relatives.
Whilst I set about planning, scripting and eventually drawing the Space Comic I have another idea that I think deserves to be explored. The working title is Post (as in post-human) and it’s a virus outbreak tale with a twist. Amongst other things, it’s going to be the infected who have to hide from the uninfected if they want to survive. I’ve been working on the back story and have a few characters ready and the first few pages plotted. All I need is someone to help with the art and I can set it off and see where it heads.
Amongst other things you’ll get to draw abandoned secret Soviet science cities, hospitals, soldiers in Nuclear-Bacterial-Chemical suits, mutants, a sexy near immortal woman and an everyman hero struggling to stay alive long enough to pick a side as his body- and the world- begin changing at an alarming rate.
Get in touch with me at spinneyhead at gmail.com and I’ll tell you more.

Queensbury Shelters Limited. I’d explain, but you’d probably fall asleep before I finished.

I’m reading Bike, Scooter, and Chopper Projects for the Evil Genius and trying to decide which project I should start hoarding scrap bicycles for, when I get an email from Atomic Zombie- the people behind the book- to tell me they have more designs at their site. I want to make a Warrior trike and run it round the Velodrome.
