According to McCoy’s Street Plan For Men, Manchester is the UK’s massage parlour capital.

the book’s Staffordshire-based author, George McCoy, said that his guide – which also lists saunas, adult cinemas and lapdancing clubs – sought only to provide better information on an already existing trade.

He said: “Manchester is the UK capital for massage parlours. There is a refreshing honesty in Manchester about this. You don’t get the hoohah that you do in London about it, probably because people are a bit more down to earth.”

A call to arms for cyclists from the London Cyclist. The points are pertinent for the rest of us as well. I hate the cyclists who jump red lights and cycle on the pavement (okay, I’ll mount the kerb- very rarely and only when there are no pedestrians to harrass or the planners have put the cycle racks a silly distance from the road) because they give the rest of us a bad image.

Of all the days to forget my camera I had to choose the one when they opened up loads of the buildings in Ancoats. Oh well. It was an informative wander and I have a load of targets for later photographing.

I ought to open with an apology. I’ve been ranting about the rebranding of Ancoats as �New Islington�, thinking it was developers ashamed of the heritage. Turns out, when that area of the industrial suburb was built, lots of the streets and sections were named for London landmarks. So there, it was actually the Industrial Revolutionaries who were ashamed of the local heritage.

AK47 has struck again

AK47, as he calls himself, has removed a Tracy Emin pink neon sign called Just Love Me from outside the Hackney Empire theatre in east London…….he said: “It’s the tackiest thing I’ve ever seen. It’s just held together by a few nails. No joiner would let it out of his workshop.”

Yesterday I was pondering getting a real live cow and leaving it in a pen in Piccadilly Gardens. But I decided it would be cruel because it would confuse the Scallies too much.

I did try to take pictures of the copyright theft warnings they show before movies, but I was using a camera phone, so they didn’t come out very well. Cory Doctorow of BoingBoing has gone one step further and is now taking flash photos of them. He already feels ripped off at paying so much, though if he will go to the Odeon on Leicester Square that’s partly his own fault. Hell, if we can go to see The League of Extraordinary Van Helsing for less than two quid each I’m sure he can find a cinema in or around London that’ll charge less than a fiver.
