Orange issues

About a fortnight ago I received a text from Orange telling me they’d improved network coverage around where I live. Ever since then I’ve hadissues sending email from my phone, which is why moblogs and pictures have started arriving in clumps. I don’t believe the two are related, so I fear Orange’s servers may be over stressed.

It’s about time for me to renew/change my contract anyway. I’m currently paying far too much and really need a better deal. Does anyone have suggestions for the best mobile package with data rate?

Naked bike ride

Yesterday it was that time again. Time to cycle through town with no clothes on. We got naked a good half hour before setting off, to facilitate others getting slogans and symbols body painted onto them. It wasn’t as warm as last year, though the rain held off, so those of us gents who weren’t seasoned naturists didn’t promote ourselves all that well. (Take me indoors and warm me up and it’s a different matter, honest.) However, it’s surprising how quickly it feels natural to be unclothed outside.

I put my camera on continuous shooting and just held down the shutter every time I saw something interesting, getting four or five shots. I must have taken in the region of 500 photos. In the process my camera clicked past the 10,000 mark and started all over again at zero. The best of the photos are in the Naked Bike Ride 2008 set. There’s also a Naked Bike Ride 2007 set, which provided source material for the NAked Bike Ride paintings I photographed earlier.

Naked Bike Paintings

This is a photo of paintings based upon photos I took of last year’s Naked Bike Ride.
Now, if someone can do some art based upon this photo…..

Dead end lock

I don’t know if this canal spur, by the Victoria and Albert hotel and across the road from Granada studios, used to go further or if it was a loading dock.

I’ve not been following developments in this part of town, so it was a bit like warping into another city when I wandered through it. I shall explore it further another day.

The man from Del Monte, he say- ‘What the fuck am I doing here?’

Indeed.

Fast Beer

They’d wanted to call it Mucky Dougal’s, but they’d received a call. Even after The Great Franchise Collapse the shrunken fast food giants could afford to retain lawyers. The best alternative was the rather insipid Burger Bar.

The drive-thru couldn’t be used to sell alcohol to people in cars, obviously. But as no-one drove along that stretch of road anymore that really didn’t matter. They converted the car park into a beer garden, ripping up the tarmac and planting herbs and laying gravel to cut the run off.

Making it a gastropub was a winning stroke. Enough people got the joke to keep it busy for its first month on novelty alone. The beer and food were good enough that word of mouth did the rest.

Now, two years on, they had a decision to make. There were a lot of abandoned fast food joints, around the country and around the world, and lots of people wanting to jump on the Burger Bar bandwagon. Should they franchise their brand?

Note Originally sent from my mobile, composed on the bus into town. I’ve added line breaks and sorted one piece of predictive text confusion.
