portacabin

I’m still hankering after a shed or garage. Does anyone know if you can get mini portacabins? Something that would fit in a parking space would be ideal, a trailer would be perfect. It would have to be quite secure, obviously. I’d probably light it with a solar/wind up lantern and not worry too much about heating it. And when we finally move to somewhere with a proper garage it can go to the allotment as a shed.

the plot thickens

The police vans have gone now, but when i went out at lunch there were police in the reception of a couple of co-op buildings and i swear i saw a couple, with torches, heading in the direction of the basement. It all makes me a little paranoid.
I’ve not worked in a big corporation’s building for a few years. It’s possible this sort of thing happens all the time nowadays. Go on, somebody reassure me.

A little too late for Hallowe'en

Rabid vampire bats in Brazil have killed 23 people.

Some experts have blamed the attacks on destruction of the rainforest, denying the bats of their natural habitat.

But others have suggested the vampire bat population may have grown rapidly, with the spread of cattle farming in the region providing an ample food supply.

So either way it’s nature getting its own back.

Ski Club

The Ski Club of Great Britain was set up in 1903, and has just celebrated 100 years of adrenalin and adventure on snow. When the Club started, over 100 years ago, its purpose was the same as today:

* to share ski information
* to encourage people to ski
* to have a great time skiing together in the mountains

The Club is for skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities and provides its members with many valuable services, including skiing with other members in resorts, finding out essential information on where, when and how to go skiing, as well as discounts on all aspects of travel, accommodation, equipment and ski clothing.

They also have an admirable environmental policy.

MekSex

A little thesis, with illustrations, on the history of mechanical devices used for sexual stimulation (does that sound learned enough?) NSFW, of course.

Many a young girl discovers the pleasure of sex by way of an innocent activity that happens to apply pressure to her crotch. Bouncing on Uncle Bob’s knee, frolicking on playground equipment, climbing trees, and horseback riding are good examples, but no machine in our culture has contributed more to the pleasure of young girls than the bicycle.

Bicycles and exercise bikes are popular props in erotic stories. The ride is often enhanced by a specially constructed, sexually stimulating seat, sometimes nothing more than a dildo. In extreme settings the rider is lashed to the bike and must continue pedaling, and thus receiving sexual stimulation, or be subjected to some sort of motivation such as electric shock. I kind of like the idea of a powerful, variable intensity vibrator built into the seat, connected to a control box in such a way that the slower the rider pedals the stronger the vibration. In the beginning the rider may prefer to go slow, but after a few good orgasms the situation will be most conducive to weight loss.

Green buildings are worth more

I remember earlier this year reporting back from the homebuilding show that many people found greening their buildings didn’t add any value to them. Well, it seems they were wrong. A study lead by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors has found that low energy buildings had added value for their owners.

RICS chief executive Louis Armstrong said: “This research shows that the interests of business and the environment can converge. The property and construction industries have a leading role to play in tackling climate change. This work shows that achieving real environmental benefits can also be profitable.”
